2022 Pinot Noir Anderson Valley Deep End
Read Holland is rooted in the belief that wine should feel handmade, expressive, and singular. Every vintage arrives as a teacher, and 2022 was no exception.
The season leaned warm, and a notable heat dome settled over the vineyard just after veraison. This is the moment when berries soften, accumulate sugar, and shift in color. With more frequent late-season heat events in recent years, Ashley adjusted her approach to leafing, creating a protective canopy so the clusters could rest in a kind of natural umbrella. After the heat passed, we made an additional walk through the rows to remove any fruit touched by the extremes. What remained was resilient and full of character.
In the cellar we chose a gentle extraction to honor the aromatic delicacy we were seeing in the fruit. The resulting wine carries lifted, perfumed notes with a lighter tannin profile, a reminder that transparency can be its own kind of strength.
Sourced from the Deep End of Anderson Valley. This compelling wine is about character and elegance. The 2022 is big on aromatics and lighter tannin.

Tasting Notes:
The 2022 Deep End Pinot Noir shows the quiet power of this far western edge of Anderson Valley. Rose petals, raspberries, and the site’s signature bergamot tea note lead the aromatics. The palate is lifted and restrained, with whole-cluster floral depth, silky tannins, and a graceful line of red fruit. A transparent, finely textured expression of the Deep End.
